Jim is founder and principal-in-charge of LSA, and has been the driving force in LSA's expansion into a multi-disciplinary firm specializing in transit-oriented development. He has worked with newly formed opt-out transit agencies and as his clients grew, so did his expertise in utilizing FTA / FHWA funds, developing strong public/private relationships, and creating successful transit-oriented developments. Responsibilities include land use planning, federal funding applications, property selection and acquisition, design and construction administration.

Jim's projects represent over $50 million in federal funding and over 80 acres of mixed-use, transit-oriented development. He authored "Sustainable Transit Facilities" and "Connecting a Community."

Jim is a registered landscape architect in the State of Minnesota, and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the American Planning Association and the American Public Transit Association.
