LSA Design renovated a 70,000 square foot recycling facility into a bus garage and maintenance facility for the Southwest Metro Transit Commission (SMTC) in 1997. The renovation created housing for seventy buses, four maintenance bays, office space, and driver check-in / locker area. Because continuing service growth, the SMTC again retained LSA Design in 2006 to explore ways to maximize the existing site and expand the existing facility for current and future bus storage needs. The expansion will be distributed over three phases with Phase I constructed in 2006. Phases II and III will be considered for construction within the next ten years.
